Love, Sex & Dating

I came across the most amazing series of sermons on Love, Sex, and Dating yesterday. It really spoke to a few things I have had on my mind and heart lately. Even said  few statements I literally said recently.  It is a four part series and each part is about 45 mins or longer. I watched all of them yesterday plus another sermon by Andy Stanley.

I will discuss the things that directly linked to my mindset lately. First was this quote / question:  Am I the person the person I am looking for is looking for? This is deep but so simple at the same time. I found myself seeing that this was not the case with a guy I briefly dated two months ago. There were multiple things that were not "enough" for me. I realized that we were not a match and partly because he was not what I was looking for and he did not really have a specific thing he was looking for.

I have discussed my self evolution on here before. I believe that those changes and the ones I am still making are preparing me for the type of person I want. Hopefully these changes are making me into the person my future mate wants as well.

You were created for relationships, for love. Yes! I recently discussed how I believe everyone wants companionship but how we go about it the problem. "Women fear being alone or single, while men do not fear this... which often ends up cause each sex some sort of downfall." Basically men want companionship but without the fear of being alone some do not work hard to maintain a relationship. While for women the fear makes them work extra hard in a relationship, overly settle for certain things, and certain behaviors.

Read 1 Corinthians 13 : 4 - 7. In this passage we find a list of the qualities that are characteristics of the "right person".  Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance. This passage has always been special to me. I never read in a way of what I would give the person I am looking for because I want the same. I want to add to this list that love understands no one is perfect (no record of being wronged).

I could talk about the message for hours but I want you to watch it so I will discuss it over time. This series has really moved me to improve myself and to hold my standards! It also has opened me up to being more opened minded about love and my faith about it coming.
